Hailing from The Netherlands, The Awkward have just released a dance synth pop ANTHEM featuring Cheri Addo. If their latest release ‘Dance The Night Away’ is anything to go by I think I have just found one of my favourite new bands! Sen, Brian, Rashid and George decided that they wanted to form the band at the tail end of 2019 but when the Covid pandemic hit The Netherlands they persevered and used their home studio’s to write and record a full album.
The band take massive sounds from the 80’s mixed with modern indie pop vibes. The image and branding of The Awkward fit perfectly with their sound and I love everything about it! ‘Dance The Night Away’ kicks off with the perfect dance hook. The track keeps getting better and better with a catchy chorus and massive energy running throughout it.
This track makes me want to get straight to a club and dance around without a care in the world. It’s the perfect feel good song that I think everyone needs during this pandemic. If you are ever feeling down just put on ‘Dance The Night Away’ and you will be smiling in no time.
