Top Releases of the Week (15th – 21st November)

Check out our top recommendations for this week below…

Recommendation 1: The McKenzie Fix – Martin and the Artist

The latest release by Ewan McKenzie aka The McKenzie Fix takes listeners back in time to the 80s era blended with some modern day electronic and indie mixes. Martin and the Artist certainly captures a range of genres making the new release gripping for fans. The catchy melody creates an addictive feel that will have you bopping about right from the start. This is actually our first time listening to The McKenzie Fix but after listening to their latest song we can’t wait to see what’s in store for them!

Recommendation 2 – Lachlan – This Ship Will Sink

Singer songwriter, Lachlan releases his third track of 2020, This Ship Will Sink and it could be our favourite yet! Right from the get-go listeners are pulled in with a Peep Show familiar audio stating, ‘ The shit storm is coming , that’s the real world out there and let me tell you baby it is fucked’ which leads straight into this addictive guitar riff. There’s an easy listening melody throughout the track that collides perfectly with Lachlan’s impressive vocals… certainly a track you’ll want to listen to on repeat!

Recommendation 3: The Calls – Fall Inside Again EP

The long anticipated wait for The Calls latest EP is over … the five track EP was released on the 20th November and we can confirm we’ve had it on repeat since! The Leeds trio take listeners on a psychedelic indie daydream with Fall Inside Again. Think The Temples meets Tame Impala to Primal scream meets Radiohead… the variety in genre is endless within The Calls making them everyone’s come of tea.

Recommendation 4: Katie Mackie – The Glow

Mesmerising lyrics, uplifting melodies and soft acoustics, The Glow is the striking new record from pop singer songwriter, Katie Mackie. There’s an uplifting aura about the track making it perfect to beat those winter blues. Katie’s ballad like vocals soar beautifully throughout the track really emphasising the immense talent she has. Think Gabrielle Aplin meets Birdy. Certainly one to watch out for!

Recommendation 5: Barley Passable – Step Inside

Australian duo, Barley Passable are back with their latest banger, Step Inside. The track captures influences from the 70 disco fever aura combined with modern day electronic and a dash of pop- funk making it the ideal track to play LOUD. This would be an incredible song to see live with it’s catchy feel-good hooks and colourful melodies… the ultimate feel-good single! If you’re a fan of new wave, pop funk, electronic disco anthems then you will love this track.

Recommendation 6: Stonehaven – The Colours Inside My Mind

This ones for the rock fans! Australian four piece, Stonehaven have just released their latest track, The Colours Inside My Mind and we can’t get enough of it! Heavy electrifying guitar riffs, rapid drum beats and soaring vocals, this track is made to be played live. The song is all about embracing your sense of self and individuality which it’s exactly what we need during these challenging times. Think Bring Me the Horizon meets Sleeping With Sirens but with their own unique style. We’d certainly love to see Stonehaven in Glasgow when gigs return!
