Single Review: The A.V Club – Over U.

By Alice Brown

The A.V Club are quickly making waves across the North West of England. Hailing from Warrington the four-piece are already selling out shows in their home town and Liverpool alongside being played several times on Radio X. Following on from their successful debut EP ‘Youthful Illusions’ the band have just released ‘Over U’ and it has massively caught my attention.

‘Over U’ has made me a fan of The A.V Club straight away! It’s a fast paced indie- pop anthem and I can’t wait to dance away to it live. These four lads definitely know how to write a tune that catches peoples attention, I could listen to the song all day and not get bored of it.

The first 20 seconds of the song starts off chilled and then the drums kick in making you want to jump around to the song. The opening lyrics “so you think you can break my heart” sets the theme of battling relationships for the rest of the song. When the chorus kicks in the lyrics “believe it when I said I’m over you” are repeated instantly standing out as memorable lyrics that fans can belt out. The song holds a massive amount of passion and enthusiasm which shines through to the listener.

Although The A.V Club only formed in Spring 2019 they have already been making massive waves and plan to take the band to the next level within the next year. Throughout lockdown they have released several lockdown covers and videos to keep everyone entertained! Check out their cover of Dua Lipa’s “Don’t Start Now”.

Make sure you keep up with the band via their social media pages.
