Single Review: Jack Gill – Our Time.

Scouse musician Jack Gill bounced onto the Liverpool music scene back in January when he released his debut track ‘One Day’, after a run on releases he has just released his new track ‘Our Time’. Jack has played legendary Liverpool venues including; The Zanzibar, Phase One and Studio 2 alongside some popular Liverpool acts.

‘Our Time’ is a high energy indie rock tune that fans of Noel Gallagher and Jake Bugg will love! Jack’s strong Scouse accent shines amongst the fast paced guitar riffs and strong drum beat shaping ‘Our Time’ to be an indie classic.

Jack said “I wanted to write an uplifting song that would make you want to move and put you in a good mood so I started listening to songs that did that for me. As mad as it sounds the song was written on the back of me listening to ‘Modern Love’ by Bowie and ‘Dancing In The Dark’ by Springsteen on loop, although they are completely different sounds they have that feel good uptempo sound to them. I then of course added my own style to it, the sort of scouse rock n roll, and it became what it is.” ‘Our Time’ is definitely a feel good tune that makes you want to dance!

“This is what we came for”

“This is what we payed for”

“This is what we stand for”

“It’s our time”

These lyrics are echoed throughout the song bringing more meaning to the listener, I can imagine them being chanted back to Jack at gigs when lockdown is over. The recurring lyrics also have a deeper meaning to them, Jack said:

“I wanted to make a sort of mantra with the words our time which is why it’s said so often throughout the track. The local rock n roll scene within Liverpool is banging and I really do feel it’s our time”

This reiterates the love that Jack has for his local scouse music scene and the support that artists show each other. He recently played a set for Liverpool Digital Music Festival alongside other artists like; Jamie Webster, Zuzu, Rats, SPINN and many more to raise money for the NHS and the ‘Save Our Venues’ campaign.

Jack has a busy year ahead of him with a gig at Phase One on 22nd August. Jack has just added a band into his set and plans to gig more around the UK alongside going into the studio and recording some more tracks.
