SINGLE REVIEW: CRAIG CARRIGAN – COME WITH ME

By Lauryn Donnelly

Craig Carrigan from Johnstone has released his first solo single on the 12th of June and I cannot get enough of it. Recorded in his house during lockdown this tune has a special feel to it.

Craig decided to try and learn how to record music during lock-down to keep himself busy, figuring it out as he went along and by watching some YouTube tutorials. The song is carried by a dreamy guitar riff, a punchy drum beat, some gentle bass and meditative vocals, the type of song I love to stick on while lying in bed after a night of being onnit – the kind of tune you need to calm down and feel at peace again. The perfect hangover cure song, like a blanket of music – I love it.

Craig used to play in a band called ‘Fantanas’ in amongst the Glasgow music realm, the band has a heavier sound than his new solo release – which I think is a class thing showing how extensive his sounds are and can be. ‘Come With Me’ gives me vibes of Weezer’s ‘Island in the Sun’ and Ben Howard, two different sounds but that’s why I really dig this tune and can’t wait to see it live, with its catchy chorus, its mellifluous beat and honeyed vocals – you’d be silly not to sing along to this. The song has already had some minted radio play on the likes of ‘Amazing Radio’ and ‘Rock Sport Radio’.

The thing I love most about this is that it was all recorded in lockdown by Craig, its his first solo single and it is available to buy on Bandcamp, you can pay whatever price you are comfortable with and all of the proceeds of the song go towards the Black Lives Matter charity – so go get it bought and support a new artist and an amazing charity! Its also available on all streaming platforms so you’ve got nae excuse.
