This week, we discussed top lockdown albums with Gary Mclean, the vocalist and guitarist from upcoming band, Fake Lips. In just the space of a few months since forming, Fake Lips have created an exciting hype for fans with the release of their debut single. Fame Whore. Find out what albums have been helping Gary through the lockdown below now…
Album 1: Tattoo You – The Rolling Stones

Why did it make the list? – Now this album is nowhere near the Stones best, but I listened to it a few weeks ago and I keep resorting back to it. The first half is especially strong and it gives you a good kick up the arse if you’re feeling a little sluggish. Also, the artwork is pretty cool.
Key Track – Little T&A
Album 2: Desire – Bob Dylan

Why did it make the list? – Probably the last, start-to-finish, genius work Bob Dylan ever did in my opinion. It starts with arguably the best song ever written in ‘Hurricane’, then is followed by a personal favourite of mine in ‘Isis’. I could go on and on about each and every song on this album, it is that good.
Key Track – Hurricane
Album 3: In Your Own Sweet Time – The Fratellis

Why did it make the list? – Everyone goes on about Costello Music, and rightly so, but this album is right up there along side it. It came out at a time in my life I was feeling pretty bummed out and bored, so it always reminds me of breaking through that down period in my life and it puts a smile on my face.
Key Track – Laughing Gas
Album 4: The Very Best Of Shocking Blue (Part One – The A Sides)

Why did it make the list? – Because it is sheer class. I don’t care if it’s cheating by picking a best of, I’m doing it! They’re a dutch band from the late 60s and were only together a few years, but every song is different, and every song is great. Mariska Veres has an amazing voice and I highly, highly recommend giving them a listen.
Key Track – Never Marry A Railroad Man
Album 5: Joy As An Act Of Resistance – Idles

Why did it make the list? – I’m saving the best until last. This is probably the most important band in the world right now and this album is a masterpiece. As soon as that second part of Colossus kicks in, there’s no going back. No other band could make you want to punch walls and give your mate a hug at the same time. Oh, and don’t forget. Love yourself.
Key track – Great
