Meet the Bands: Layaway

WHO? Stewart Matheson on the Vocals and Rhythm Guitar, Rob Lees on Lead Guitar and Backing Vocals, Euan Wilkie on the Drums and latest addition to the band, bass player, Fraser MacDonald all make up Glaswegian band, Layaway.

GENRE? Cinematic alternative rock

FOR FANS OF: Lower Than Atlantis, Deaf Havana and Young Guns

THE MUSIC FILES FAVOURITE TRACK: The Impossibility – A little slower to their usual rockier style, The Impossibility pulls listeners in from the get-go with the melodic riffs and infectious lyrics – a love story with a twist if you will. The track shows a different side to the band that we haven’t seen before showing the variety in style, Layaway have.

WHY ARE WE DIGGIN THEM? Electrifying drum beats, powerful vocals and heavy guitar riffs, Layaway are key players in the local rock scene. They write the type of music that was made to be played in a live setting in a crowd full of people. Expect flying pints and a whole lot of moshing – wouldn’t be a proper gig without it eh?!

THE MUSIC FILES FAVOURITE LYRICS: Close Your Eyes- ‘You know it won’t be long, I’m holding whatever, you can hold on.’

CAREER AND GIG HIGHLIGHTS AS TOLD BY THE BAND: Getting national radio play, headlining King Tuts, supporting Larkins and October drift, headlining West End festival at Queen Margaret, drive street party and Oran Mor. Also headlining Glasgow pride at the Barrowlands. Doing a UK tour, growing our live stripes in Scotland playing a BBC live session in Inverness with a sold out show in Inverness.
