Single Review: Fiona Harte – Sugar Coating

by Orla Brady

During these turbulent times, we all need to inject an ounce of calm and serenity into our lives in order to keep us grounded. How better to do this than through music? And if you are struggling to choose the perfect track to wind down to, Irish singer-songwriter Fiona Harte has you covered.

Her 2018 debut single ‘White Picket Fence’ garnered over one million listeners on Spotify. After spending time writing and recording in Nashville, Harte has now released her new single ‘Sugar Coating’ – a track which guarantees that her success, and popularity, will certainly continue.

‘Sugar Coating’ is a tender and intimate track. A strong R&B style flows throughout, present in the way Harte’s melodic vocals compliment the minimalist musical accompaniment, which consists solely of smooth electric guitar.

Harte has succeeded in composing a delicate song, which showcases her stunning vocal ability. The sonic simplicity of ‘Sugar Coating’ fits perfectly alongside her poetic lyrics and highlights Harte’s song writing ability.

Fiona Harte is an exceptional talent, and if ‘Sugar Coating’ is anything to go by, her future undoubtedly promises a whole host of opportunities and an ever-growing fan base.
