Single Review: Beta Waves – U Don’t Have 2

by Emily Duff

Following on from their April Single, Hideaway, Dundee 2-piece, Beta Waves, have created another synthy (is that a word? it is now) banger. U Don’t Have 2 is the perfect chill-out track

Mixing Synth, Vocals and Guitar, the track has sunset vibes to relax to. Get your picnic made and get in your garden before you blast this tune – I claim the last cocktail sausage.

The band have been spending their isolation producing music to keep you entertained from beautiful covers of Harry Styles to acoustic versions of their own tracks. Beta Waves are making themselves known and refusing to waste the spare time we’ve all been given,

To get a gist of their sound, I’d make comparisons to bands like Vampire Weekend or M83. Filled with passion, UDH2 is the perfect follow on from Hideaway. A laid back synth accompanying their chilled lyrics is the perfect summer combination. With ethereal lines like, “You fear all of your memories”. The message seems to be of dreams and how they affect our reality and being fearful of things you shouldn’t be. Everyone has insecurities and anxieties, all we can do is make sure they don’t take over.

Despite the chaos that’s been affecting the music industry at the moment, Beta Waves have ensured they provide some relaxed summer anthems. Enjoy the tunes while we still have our one week of British Summer.
