Leith three-piece Felix And The Sunsets return with their latest dose of punk infused rock on the riff heavy ‘El Cubano’ and it is one of their finest offerings to date. The garage rockers have been making a name for themselves in the underground scene with performances at famed Edinburgh venues such as Sneaky Pete’s, Liquid Rooms and have also gained backing from grassroots promoters, This Feeling.
The lads live shows have been quoted as being “powerful” and “electrifying” which is everything this track is – kicking off with a thumping drum beat and a killer punk style riff that is relentless throughout the song instantly grabs your attention. “Do the impossible!” is the yell from lead-vocalist Felix on the chorus after giving a nod to famed Cuban revolutionaries Fidel Castro and Che Guevara. A quest of their very own revolution maybe, or two fingers to the system? Who knows. But I am on board!
The young Edinburgh based group sound like they are on a mission and ain’t letting nothing get in their way. It is the very type of song that stops you in your tracks as you hear it blaring from a small tent at a festival on your way to the main stage. I predict it to quickly become a fan favourite.
