Yawrite , Amy Lou here , I’m a singer songwriter from Dunfermline , within the realm of glamorous indie rock , before the virus set in I had a fairly class start to 2020 including going on a Scottish tour to play extremely intimate shows and I released my new single Tonic Wine which had an absolute cracking reception gaining airplay on BBC Scotland and Amazing Radio . In my spare time I also get involved in writing for the music files and i am also heavily involved in fife’s LGBT community.

Here’s what records I’ve been spinning in isolation and why I love the records and some stand out tracks x
1. The Crossing – Big Country

Any Dunfermline artist will tell you , every guitarist in the town was born and bred on this brilliant band – I’ve went back to listen to try and reinvent my guitar sound whilst I’ve been writing my new record – it’s a beautiful wee collection of songs. It’s the heart and soul of my town.
STANDOUT TRACK : CHANCE
2. Open Book – Fatherson

This whole album is extremely beautiful , I’ve been in love with Fatherson since I sneaked into their gig in PJ Molloys in 2015 (i was a wee bit young to get in) and I have followed them ever since. This is their second collection and it’s an album in two acts and is perfect to listen to on vinyl as the A side fizzles out to a beautiful song called Joanna which is a phenomenal song to cry to
STANDOUT TRACK – JOANNA
3. Rumours – Fleetwood Mac

You’re lying if you say you don’t like this album. Fleetwood Mac have been one of my favourite bands growing up and I always find myself gravitating back to this record (and one of their other LPs Tango In The Night) The album is so intimate especially the songs written by Stevie and Buckingham who at the timing of writing were navigating their turbulent relationship. It’s a beautiful record to sit and listen to and is one of the most iconic albums in music history
STANDOUT TRACK : YOU MAKE LOVING FUN
4. BattleBorn – The Killers

One of The Killers lesser known albums – BattleBorn is a masterpiece. The record is a lot more theatrical than their previous releases like Hot Fuss and Sam’s Town – this record is made for stadiums and sounds HUGE. The CD (mind them) is permanently on in my car as it’s back to back driving bangers , my car is idle at the moment but this is record is still spinning
STANDOUT TRACK – FLESH AND BONE
5. HOUNDS OF LOVE – KATE BUSH

Say the name Kate Bush to anyone and they will either start screeching the word “BABOOOOOSHKA” or they will bring up this amazing album. Filled with all the production quirks that the 80s had to offer – big spinning pools of chorusy pads , big reverberated toms , and bass slapped right in your face. It’s frankly my favourite album to ever be released. It’s a songwriters dream if they want inspiration and I’ve been spinning it constantly
STANDOUT TRACKS – RUNNING UP THAT HILL (DEAL WITH GOD) + CLOUDBUSTING
