The PLANET boys are back, and sounding out of this world on their latest single ‘Imaginary’ ahead of the release of their new EP ‘Maybe Someday’ out April 17th.
I first came across the band back in 2018 when they supported DMA’s at the Barrowlands (Glasgow) and immediately became hooked.
Many people will touch upon the britpop influences the Sydney-rockers may have but make no mistake these lads are forging their own instantly recognisable sound with their dreamy guitar hooks, sing-along choruses and already have a loyal following here in the UK.
The first release from the much anticipated EP came in July of last year with ‘Never New’ which was quick to become a crowd-rousing hit throughout their live shows and was then followed up by the brilliant ‘Reason Why’. Both of which have been on heavy rotation on my own playlists.
Next up has seen the release of the indie-rock quartet’s newest song ‘Imaginary’ which is yet another anthem to add to an ever growing catalogue of addictive hits.
The song itself takes a bit of a slower approach to previous releases at the beginning putting more of a focus on lead-singer Matty’s superb vocals, and paints the picture of a melancholic feeling most of us have felt at one point or another in our lives, before bursting into a more uplifting heart-thumping pace for the chorus which then meets the signature sound of lead-guitarist Tommy’s dreamy riff(s) on the break down to create an all-round tranquil mood.
